UPS Maintenance-free Battery Usage Common Sense
A sealed Maintenance-free battery is also known as a valve-regulated sealed lead-acid battery. Although it has the word maintenance-free in its name, it does not mean that it does not need to pay attention to itself when it is used.
It should be noted in use and maintenance that the allowable operating range of sealed batteries is 15°C to 50°C, but use within 5°C to 35°C can prolong battery life. The chemical composition of the battery will change below -15°C and cannot be charged. Use in the range of 20°C to 25°C will get the highest life. The battery will get long life but lower capacity at low temperature, and higher capacity but short life at high temperature.
Battery life is related to temperature After the temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius, the battery life will be cut in half. If the battery is not recharged within 72 hours after discharge. Sulfate will adhere to the plate to insulate and charge, and damage the battery. The battery separator life is only 5-6 months when the ambient temperature is 30-40 degrees. Batteries that have been stored for a long time must be changed every 6 months. Batteries must be stored in a dry and cool environment. At the same time, it should also be noted that when the battery is floating or equalizing, the gas generated inside the battery is electrolyzed into the water on the negative plate, so as to maintain the capacity of the battery without adding water. In addition, the cycle life of the battery (charge and discharge times) is also closely related to the discharge rate. The depth of discharge, and the way of recovery charging, the most important factor is the depth of discharge.
